In your consultation, you will have a discussion where you will be able to talk through your concerns, ask questions and receive advice. Our surgeons will work with you to understand what you wish to achieve from surgery and after evaluating your medical history, current health status, and body type/anatomy, they will use their expertise to determine the most suitable breast surgery technique along with ideal breast shape, size, and type of implant that will suit your body proportions. They will also talk through the implant placement options, including on top of or below the chest muscle.
Following your comprehensive consultation, you will be assigned a dedicated patient coordinator who will provide surgery quotes and dates for surgery.
If you decide to go ahead with your breast surgery procedure, you will work with your patient coordinator to book a convenient date for your surgery. Alternatively you will have the opportunity to meet with the surgeon again for a second discussion about your breast surgery. Once a date for your procedure is booked, you must have a pre-operative assessment.
Your pre-op assessment may take place in-clinic, or over the phone based on your specific requirements. Your nurse will go through your medical history with you and advise on which pre-operative tests are going to be appropriate which may include a blood test, MRSA swab, urine test and blood pressure. They will also be able to advise you on how best to prepare for your upcoming procedure.
Breast surgery is carried out with precision under general anaesthesia and takes around 1 hour to perform. The operation starts with an incision being made within the breast crease known as the inframammary fold, the breast pocket is created in the decided implant placement position, before the implant is then inserted into the pocket. The incision is then then secured with stitches at the end of the procedure. Patients are required to wear a surgical bra/compression garment bra following their procedure which will be supplied to you. We recommend taking 1-2 weeks off work, depending on your role and how you are healing. You will also need to avoid exercise for up to 6 weeks.

We are able to offer a range of breast implant types at our Breast Implant Clinic in Birmingham which includes implants made by Mentor (johnson johnson), Motiva, Allergan and B-Lite. When it comes to deciding which breast implant to use; this is best discussed at a consultation with one of our expert breast cosmetic surgeons.
We only use silicone implants which give the most natural breast volume and long-lasting . It is rare that Breast Enlargement would have any impact on your ability to breastfeed as breast tissue, nipple and areola are not typically affected during a Breast Enlargement procedure. If you have a combined procedure such as an uplift or nipple correction, then this does carry a risk of the milk ducts becoming damaged or breast tissue being removed. This will all be thoroughly during your consultation with our expert surgeons.
Breast Enlargement surgery at The Private Clinic is performed as day case procedures meaning you will be able to leave to recover at home shortly after your procedure once discharged by your surgeon.
Overall, we recommend patients take 1-2 weeks to recover and return to work. The week following your procedure it is important to take it easy and rest but not to spend too long stationery as keeping active is just as important to aid a healthy recovery. We recommend that you have help around the house for the first week and do not carry anything heavy or take part in exercise or other activities for at least 4-6 weeks post-surgery as advised by your surgeon.
You will be required to attend a series of follow-up appointments at The Private Clinic with a nurse and then a 6-week check-up appointment with your surgeon. At this stage, you should be pretty much back to your everyday activities and your surgeon will be able to advise you on anything that you are unsure of or have questions about.

Our Breast Surgery clinic in is easily reached via the M6 and M5 which both run by the city. Parking at the clinic is not always guaranteed so we recommend researching local car parks nearby such as Ladywood Duchess Road Car Park and Broadway Plaza which are all around minute walk from the clinic.
There are also a number of local bus routes that leave the city centre from Colmore Row near the Anglican Cathedral of S. Philip the Apostle (including routes 9, 109, 139) or from Corporation Street (outside ‘Beatties’), including routes 120, 128 and 129. The closest stop is the Plough and Harrow bus stop which is then approximately, a 1-minute walk to the clinic.
Birmingham New Street is the best mainline train to use when travelling to our veins clinic. However, the closest station to our clinic is Five Ways which you will need to get a connecting train from via New Street Station.
